“The fascinating Digital World- Is it All Sunshine??”

Dedicated to the ideology of our founders and to pay homage, marking the death anniversary of our founding father Mr. B.S Sood, every year the Institution conducts a week-long series of activities to draw attention to a social cause and propagate the thoughts of our students.

With advancement of the modern world and the fast pace growth of our livelihood, digital world is witnessing a predominant move and almost taking over every aspect of our lives. Under the light of same development, our Institution decided to reflect and consider pondering upon the topic “The fascinating Digital World-Is it All Sunshine??”. The idea was to enlighten students and society at large about the profound impact of technology on their daily lives, encouraging them to reflect on their digital habits and fostering a balanced approach to technology use.

At our Gomti Nagar Branch, the students performed a skit showcasing the stark contrast between life before and after smartphones. Scenes of children playing outdoors and engaging in family meals, highlighting past interactions were depicted in the skit. These were juxtaposed with modern scenarios of children glued to screens, missing out on physical play and social bonding. The performance sparked meaningful discussions on balancing digital convenience with real world connections. The key takeaway was clear: While the digital world offers many benefits; its crucial to remain mindful of its impact on our social lives and health.

In addition to the skit, there were several informative sessions: one on the dangers of cyberbullying and strategies for staying safe online, another on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act to educate students about their rights and safety, and a session on cyber safety, offering practical advice for secure digital navigation. Students also presented a thought- provoking presentation titled “Choose Wisely”; emphasizing the importance of balancing screen time with activities that foster personal growth and well-being.

On day four at Gomti Nagar Branch, we focused on “Technology: Boon or Bane”. Students delivered a compelling presentation showing how excessive reliance on technology can disrupt daily life. We also focused on social media addiction. Activities included a session on cybercrime and cyberbullying by 1090 experts, original songs and a rap titled “A tangible Web, Woven by Us”; written and performed by students.

At the Kanpur Road Branch, the students highlighted the two opposite sides of the social media usage through placards and posters. To create awareness, a session was conducted with the parents of students, on the rising health issues due to excessive screen time in children of very young age, the guest speaker, Dr. Siddhant Kumar and Mr. Yaduvesh chaturvedi from UMEED, the rehabilitation centre, Lucknow discussed about the problems that parents are noticing in their children and how it is adversely impacting their mental health.

 To make students of class IV to IX aware of the cybercrime and consequences different act of criminal offenses were shared by the guest speakers Advocate Manmeet Singh and practicing lawyer Ms. Harsh Chauhan they talked about the various unauthorized application and link which should not be used by the students, in order to avoid the future consequences and to act lawfully and not to take revenge on others. “Think before you act”. 

On day five, the students of Kanpur Road Branch took out a procession to spread awareness about the judicial use of digital technologies and how to make the fascinating digital world a blessing for human life. students of class X to XII marched in in processing to the zonal park to spread the message of how to use the technologies wisely, how it impacts the behavior of an individuals and the consequences it has on our lives. On day 6, at the Kanpur Road Branch, during the morning assembly students of class XI and XII had an enlightening discussion on the topic “DIGITAL WIZARDRY AS THE SIXTH ELEMENT OF NATURE”.

At Indira Nagar Branch, for the youngest students in playgroup to class III, the week included engaging activities such as recitation, drawing, clay modeling, and bookmark making. Each day, a message about the wise use of mobile phones was shared, complemented by movie screenings and the creation of a word wall.  In the junior wing, students participated in brainstorming sessions. They wrote about their experiences spending a day without mobile phones. The senior wing’s program featured guest lectures, brainstorming sessions, creative writing exercises, poster making, slogan writing, storytelling, and group presentations. Students also conducted and presented surveys on digital media usage.
