World Conservation Day is celebrated on July 28, every year to highlight the importance of preserving a healthy environment and natural resources for future generations. To mark the occasion and with the aim to promote environmental awareness and encourage students to contribute towards nature conservation by planting saplings and by joining hands with the state government’s initiative, the Kanpur road branch organised a plantation drive in school.

The students of different classes brought seeds, pots and saplings of different plants for the drive. While the junior section brought seeds of different varieties and the senior students brought the saplings of various flowering, non- flowering and medicinal plants like Hibiscus, Parijat, Gulmohar, Harsingar, Neem , Amaltas etc. the drive was a huge success with the participation of students where hundreds of saplings were planted around the school campus.

Students, guided by the school management, teachers, office bearers and gardening staff planted the saplings with the great enthusiasm. After planting, students also watered and added compost to support their growth. This event serves as a stepping stone towards more such initiatives aimed at fostering a sustainable future.

At Indira Nagar Branch, students from classes IV to XII planted Mango, Neem, Gulmohar, and Hibiscus trees in the nearby park, the school backyard, and the school garden, with each class contributing two trees. Younger students from playgroup to class 3 brought saplings and seeds, potted plants, and pledged to water and care for them daily. They also engaged in collage-making, expressing their commitment to nature conservation creatively.

Similarly, students at Gomti Nagar Branch voiced their views as stewards of this planet and vocalised the responsibility to contribute to nature
conservation. And a powerful way to do this is – planting trees to ensure a safe,
healthy future.
